lb fresh asparagus spears

tablespoon olive or canola oil
Salt and pepper to taste
  1. Heat gas or charcoal grill.
  2. Break off tough ends of asparagus spears. Brush asparagus with oil; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place on grill or in grill basket (grill “wok”). Place on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 5 minutes. Turn asparagus, or shake basket to turn asparagus; cook 3 to 4 minutes longer or until lightly browned and crisp-tender.
  3. Place asparagus on serving platter.

If you want to bump up the flavor of the asparagus, try using a flavored olive oil.
