Trim and Tasty Breakfast Tips

Trim and Tasty Breakfast Tips

No matter how many times we hear that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, too many of us tend to skip it, or we opt for less-than-healthy swaps.

Life can sometimes thwart our best intentions when it comes to breakfast. Mornings can be chaotic, and sometimes we barely manage to get ourselves, not to mention our families, out the door on time. But a healthy breakfast doesn't have to complicate the morning routine. Try these Trim and Tasty Breakfast tips to kick start your day.

  • Make good choices
Our willpower tends to be strong in the morning; we are rested and more resilient as we embark on a fresh, new start. Capitalize on this, but make it easy on yourself by stocking your kitchen with healthy options like whole grain cereals, fruits and low-fat yogurt. You'll be more likely to make healthier choices throughout the day.

  • Don't skip eating
Eating breakfast will give you energy to face the day's challenges. The morning can be a good time to eat something higher in calories, since you have all day to work it off. Take advantage of it and indulge in a bit of lean turkey sausage, a dab of nut butter, maybe even a strip of bacon!

  • Dig some whole grains
Whole-grain cereals are a great way to start the day. Whole grains contain vitamins, minerals, and, yes, fiber. Oh, and by the way, whole grain is the number one ingredient in all Big G cereals. Just thought you should know.

  • Be an egghead
Eggs are a great breakfast food. Rich in protein, they will help keep you feeling full. Try poaching or frying eggs in a touch of olive oil. If you're short on time, grab a couple of hard-boiled eggs that you so strategically prepared the day before.

  • Become a fiber friend
Fiber-rich foods are satiating. Try a piece of multi-grain toast topped with peanut butter, or a serving of Fiber One® with low-fat milk or yogurt.

  • Blend, baby, blend
Smoothies are a quick, delicious and portable way to enjoy a healthy breakfast. Simply set aside the ingredients in your fridge the night before and have a reusable mug at the ready if you need it to-go. Bananas, low-fat yogurt and ice make a great base. Fresh or frozen berries, peaches, pineapple, spinach, melon, cucumber, and carrots all taste great with bananas after a quick pass through the blender.

Every morning you get another chance to begin again. Give it your best shot with one of these Trim and Tasty breakfasts.
